Have a disagreement on value with your insurance company or Licensing?

This is a very common issue, but what can you do? Well, here in Washington you have the option of doing a declared value from the previous owner, or getting an appraisal. Here's the catch; If your valuation exceeds $5000 in 'Book Value' for licensing, it gets referred to a state appraiser who is not an expert on your car and is not going to give you a fair shake. They are going to take the highest value and tax you on the sale/purchase. Check with your insurance company and be certain you have the right to appraisal. If not, you're going to get an adjuster on your claim, not the appraised value. In either case, a detailed uncontestable appraisal of the ACV can save you a lot of money. Don't get pushed around, get someone who knows.
